A Little Hooky Never Killed Nobody

How was your Friday? Mom had a rare day off from work and decided she didn’t want the 77° day to go to waste with my sister at school and me in bed until 1 PM. My sister had a “sick day” and we made plans to do something fun. We woke up and left the house by 9 AM and drove to Maymont, a historical estate and public park with gardens and wildlife animals. There are a lot of things to discover like standing in old, giant hollowed out trees or climbing up low hanging tree branches. This was something my sister did a lot of.

My favorite part about Maymont is seeing animals native to Virginia. We spent fifteen minutes watching a gray fox walk in different circles. Hey, it was cute!20170224_11321520170224_113604

Weird shaped stumps in the Japanese garden.

Another weird shaped stump in front of a Dogwood.

We left the park with grumbling bellies and went to our favorite place to eat in Richmond, Greek on Cary, to get lamb gyros and souvlaki. Then of course, we needed a little dessert, which had us stop by For the Love of Chocolate. This store is like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory meets international candy store. German, Swiss, Irish, British, Japanese… candies from all kinds of countries! I bought a few truffles (not pictured, but very delicious) and a Kinder Joy egg. It was my first Kinder product and was very good. I probably had more sugar than I should have had today, but maybe it was the spring fever in me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you are ever in the capital of Virginia and like Greek food, Greek on Cary is a good place to eat.
Excuse my sloppy Instagram story handwriting, but I was really excited.

Beautiful old cars my mom, sister, and I were dreaming we could buy.

This day deserves 4/5 stars. It was warm, but I didn’t sweat. I had a great lunch, but may have had too many sweets. And I got to see Richmond again. I think it’s okay to skip school if you have this much fun, fresh air, and exercise. A little hooky never killed nobody. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How did you spend your Friday? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear about your day.
